Acoustic Sensors

Our ultrasonic imaging technology is a handheld device about the size and weight of a camcorder. The device works by producing high-power, coherent ultrasound and imaging the echo reflected from objects through clothing, walls, or containers. At an operating frequency of about 70 to 100 kHz, it will be able to resolve objects to about 4 to 6 inches at distances of 10 to 15 feet. The moving "look and see" image will appear on an LED screen, just as in a camcorder. The device will be ableto image the contents of trucks and cargo containers, including hidden compartments, quickly without opening them, or even making contact with them.

This acoustic imaging device is just one of a class of remote-imaging devices that have a broad range of potential civilian, law enforcement, paramilitary, military, and special operations applications. Each application of acoustic imaging technology has different requirements for range, resolution, and size and weight of the imaging device. The applications may therefore operate more appropriately at different frequencies.
